For a while now, the spread of the coronavirus has been worrying people and large events have been cancelled. It was therefore no surprise when the big DMEA was cancelled on the 22nd of April 2020.
At first I was very disappointed, because I was looking forward to the advertising campaign and the bike tour. Together with my wife, however, we immediately considered alternatives as to how the advertising campaign coupled with the bike tour could still come about.
The most important factors we considered were the following: the promotion should take place in Switzerland, the campaign should address potential students and the 1000km (the original distance to Berlin, where the DMEA would have taken place) should be maintained.
And so the brainstorming took its course…
We have found a great alternative, which has also met with enthusiasm from the head of studies, Mr. Holm.
To be honest, I like the current version even better!
So, here is the updated version of the medical informatics advertising tour:
I will drive 1’000 km through Switzerland and every day I will meet an alumnus who completed his bachelor’s degree in medical informatics at the BFH. This is to show the diversity, the chances of success and the practical occupational fields of the alumni. Hopefully the interviews of the alumni will also encourage some of them to register for this interesting course of study. In addition to the alumni, interviews with other people who are currently working in the field of medical informatics can also be conducted.
The whole tour should be done within one working week, which would mean 200km per day, as it was originally planned. Certainly 200km per day is a challenge, but I will prepare well for this challenge!
